Work began on Heatstroke shortly after the release of Project 5 in September of 2021. At this writing I feel that singles for the album will be ready by April or May 2022, followed by a double CD release and on Bandcamp, with the other streamers to follow thereafter. Sharon DiMuro is working on a painting of the cover photo above, and Greg Gierowski will once again oversee all the artwork. I will no longer be using Atomic Disk as they badly messed up on the printing of Project 5.
Currently I'm finishing all my new Alesis piano parts, to be followed by additional guitar tracks, bass, drums and finally vocals.
May 22 - the first single LIKE AN ALMOND JOY is released!
Because of the breadth and complexity of this new album, I've decided to release two or three singles ahead of the full album, and today was the first appearance of "Like An Almond Joy." This song is a tribute to Captain Beefheart's "Abba Zabba" and has been on my wish list for decades. The Bandcamp release is live right now, with Spotify, Apple and the other streamers to follow in the coming days.

"Yep there is a novelty to this alright, a right old ratatat that would have going full tribal dancing going by that beat and in those hypnotic vocals there is a call to get back to the summer of love when we were all about everyone else before serving up for ourselves. A haunting kind of thing, felt like the voices in my head deep into the night so I was a little ruffled by the vocal progression if probably a bit more taken by the playing which has a quiet chaos going for it. I was really never in to sweets growing up, but during Halloween, the only candy I'd have would be an Almond Joy. And this tune was a Joy to listen to. Poor kid being vein-challenged. Interlude kinda reminded me of Gentle Giant and dug the vibra-slaps (I was just trying to find mine as a matter of fact). Anywhom, nice humorous tune and great effort.
